Before we go on with today’s digest, we would like to announce that our partners at MY.GAMES Venture Capital (MGVC) are launching the third season of the Game Drive business accelerator program for mobile game developers in partnership with Google, AWS for Games, data.ai, and Deconstructor of Fun. The first online event will take place on May 11th at 15:00 CET, while the first offline event will happen on May 23rd during the Nordic Game Conference!

— Apply to participate via Game Drive website;
— Get a chance to receive an exclusive feedback session from MY.GAMES, Google, AWS for Games, data.ai, Unity, and Deconstructor of Fun experts, along with investment from MGVC;
— Join online and offline events for industry insights and executive-level networking.

The participants of the Game Drive program will receive free consulting services, including expert evaluation, key metrics analysis, recommendations on step-by-step improvements, as well as advice on scaling and international expansion from MY.GAMES, Google, AWS for Games, data.ai, Unity experts, and Deconstructor of Fun. Games with the most potential will also have the chance to receive investment from MGVC.

MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS

M.O.B.A Network (STO: OBAB), a Sweden-based mobile games developer, has entered into an agreement to acquire Wargraphs S.A.S, a gaming service provider and in-game app developer. The acquisition consists of upfront payment of $27.5m (€25m), and additional consideration of up to a maximum of $27.5m (€25m) based on Wargraphs’ achieved EBITDA for 12 and 24 months. This deal will enable M.O.B.A. to diversify its portfolio and gain expertise in the gaming service segment.

VENTURE FINANCING

Turkey-based mobile games developer Frantic Games has raised $2.4m in a Pre-Seed funding round, led by vgames, with participation from Emerging Europe 500 and Akin Babayigit. The sum will go towards developing brand-new hybrid casual action mobile titles. Frantic Games is a newly established gaming studio that aims to create hybrid-casual mobile games for players worldwide.

Phantom Gamelabs, a Finland-based mobile game developer, has secured an undisclosed amount of Seed funding from Supercell, the Finnish publisher and developer behind popular mobile games such as Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars. The funding will be used to support the development of Phantom Game Labs’ upcoming game.

PUBLIC OFFERINGS

US-based competitive video game and esports organization Super League Gaming has announced a sale of its common shares. Gross proceeds from the offering, before expenses, are expected to be approximately $10.2m. The company has raised about $56.8m for the last three years. Super League Gaming hosts recreational video game league events in movie theaters, as well as metaverse events.
